A solid plate, this design has been going for years in different iterations, including typeface changes, palette adjustments, and short departures to feature bears or gold prospectors. Identifiability: Similar from a distance to NY's yellow plate, but it's probably unlikely to see the two in the same place Colors: The yellow is notable, and I'm a fan of 2 color palette.. specifically because the navy pairs well with the yellow. Could have easily copped out and gone with black. Typeface: A common theme to display the state name in a serif font, while having the motto use a third. I figure, why not? The relatively thin lettering works fine for the serial. Symbols: The divider shows the state flag, itself featuring the big dipper + north star. The stars work well and add depth to the design. I appreciate that the stars are a "mask" for the background instead of being white. This is probably my favorite part of the plate. "THE LAST FRONTIER" is a distinguished motto, kind of hard. Clarity: Very simple and straightforward, nothing to complain about. As always, I'm grateful for lack of tacky graphic design in the background. Overall, a high/mid tier plate with no glaring issues. Good on them for allowing the reputation of the state speak for itself.

I think I do really like it but if I lived in Alaska I would be more prone to riding my elk
